#NETDRIVE 2 BANDWIDTH THROTTLING WINDOWS#
The Windows client seems to work ok, but also would not connect.ĥ. I then looked into OwnCloud, which is a server/client system which apparently does more or less what I want in terms of sync (it gives you control over both sides of your own 'cloud' which is what I want).īut unfortunately, while someone wrote an OwnCloud App for Synology NAS, it seems very buggy, and I was unable to make it connect to my NAS properly. But I couldn't get NetDrive to connect properly to the NAS.Ĥ. I then looked into NetDrive, which maps WebDAV folders (like those on my NAS) to WinExplorer, which I was then going to use for Synkron or some similar file sync/replicator. So I considered VPN (Hamachi), but this seems more complex than I would like, and I have no actual requirement to have a VPN continuously open.ģ. I then realized this won't work because I need the NAS to be mounted/mapped on WAN. That makes is less convenient for usage with the x inetd as you need to remember to modify options in /etc/xinetd.d/pure-ftpd file.
Unlike many daemons, Pure-FTPd doesnt read any configuration file. I tried something called Synkron), and targeting the NAS LAN folders. See Pure-FTPd installation and configuration for configuration of this daemon in Suse.
#NETDRIVE 2 BANDWIDTH THROTTLING SOFTWARE#
I have attempted to look at simple solutions, such as just using sync software (i.e. I set up the DDNS, and I can connect to the NAS via SFTP on WAN. The Synology NAS comes with a built in OS called DSM, which I find very limiting as well since it's not really just a flat unix server.ġ. I have found it extremely frustrating.įirstly, I'm not sure exactly what system/software I should be using. This should, in principle, be extremely easy. I want to centralize some data on the NAS, and WAN sync it to the clients. a 256K link site will have both connections each throttled to 16KB during the day. There are two replication groups for each site so they are both throttled to the same rate - e.g. I want to accomplish something very simple (in my eyes): I have a Synology NAS, and several Win 7 machines (I also have a mac, but ignore that for now). Bandwidth is being throttled during the day.
